Juicing for Beginners: A MASTERCLASS

Juicing for Beginners: A MASTERCLASS

Today I’ll be sharing my TOP 20 TIPS on what you need to know before you start juicing, to set you up for success! Trust me when I say everything I share with you here will save you time, money, and stress.

JUICING IS AMAZING. I am one of the biggest advocates for juicing. It can be a little intimidating in the beginning if you’ve never juiced much before!

I am sharing all the things that I wish someone would have shared with me before I began my juicing journey. It would have saved me time and taken out a lot of the guess work for me. So consider me your guide as I walk you through what to expect and how to easily find success and achieve juicy results.

I have been raw vegan for 18 years now, and juicing for a looong time. Changing my lifestyle allowed me to reverse type-2 diabetes, completely transform my health and body, and it completely changed the trajectory of my life. I am wildly passionate about sharing raw foods with everyone, even if it’s to inspire them to add one fully raw meal or juice a day.

I’m sure you have heard about juicing and what it can do for you. The benefits are literally endless.

Whether you’re looking to increase your nutrition, create new healthy habits, or heal a particular health issue, juicing can benefit you in every possible way.

Whether you’re going to juice for yourself, or your family, the goal is to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Even if you’re an advanced juicer reading this, you might also glean some tips that might help improve your juicing journey.

My intention is to inspire you to juice and to set you up for success.

Drinking one freshly-pressed juice daily can have a powerful impact on your life.

If something is easy, you’ll do it, right? And if it’s not, you won’t!

So let’s make it easy for you!

Top 20 Tips for Juicing!

  1. Juicing is just like learning a new language. It will take time to learn the skill and “speak” the language before you’re proficient.
  2. It might take time for some juices to taste good. You’ll often hear me talking about how much I love green juices, and not everyone loves them at first - your taste for them will develop over time. Usually what happens is once you adjust, you LOVE green juice and will want one every day. They’re so good for you!
  3. Detox will vary from person to person - but definitely expect some changes once you start changing your lifestyle to include more juicing and raw foods - this may include headaches, acne, diarrhea, constipation - the symptoms are endless and will differ from person to person - just know that your body is expelling old toxins and eventually the things purging from your body will stop, and you will get to the “other side” where you feel amazing. I often hear that people don’t want to start juicing because they aren’t sure what to expect. If it’s your first time juicing, maybe stay close to a bathroom for your first day. Be prepared that your body might have a response when you juice, and that response usually involves a flush of some kind, or going to the restroom. This is not a bad thing - it is actually a good thing. Just be prepared for it!
  4. Start with ONE ingredient or simple ingredients.  Don’t go overboard with juicing combinations in the beginning. Some things will taste terrible together. The more ingredients you use, the more muddled the taste can become, and if you don’t know how to combine things, the juices won’t taste good. So start with 1-3 ingredients maximum at first. Check out some of the beginner recipes in my FullyRaw app. I also have tons of beginner recipes on my YouTube channel for you to check out.
  5. Don’t buy cheap juicers. Invest in equality juicer like a Nama. It is worth it and will save you money over the long haul. I have broken enough juicers to know that cheap juicers don’t last and waste so much produce. Buying a cheap one now will actually mean more money in the future by replacing them, than just buying a high-quality one to begin with. I have a Nama J2 juicer, and you can get $55 off using the code: FULLYRAW55 here.
  6. Try to only purchase organic produce for juicing. Drinking juice provides you with a concentrated source of nutrients, and if you’re buying non-organic produce that is loaded with chemicals, you will also intake a concentrated amount of those chemicals as well. The goal is to eliminate health issues, not create more of them.
  7. Make time to juice and prepare in advance. Plan your time accordingly. Depending on how much you want to use, it will take 30 minutes to an hour of your time. One mistake I see across the board when it comes to juicing is that people don’t allow themselves enough time to juice. They don’t plan the day ahead. They think they will wake up in the morning, make juice in 5 minutes and then be out the door. What happens is they usually get sidetracked with other things, are running late, don’t have time to juice, and then the opportunity is gone. You have to make time for health. Prioritize juicing if it means a lot to you.
  8. Make sure you are planning for two grocery runs a week to get what you need, and make sure you have everything in your house to make the combinations and quantities you desire. If you are preparing for family or friends, make sure that you are preparing for that as well.
  9. To save money, order your produce in bulk, or by the case. I better explain how to do this in my Inner Circle coaching program, and also in this video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq1f_ZtvoRQ
  10. It’s best to have juices earlier in the day, preferably with or for breakfast. Not only does it hydrate your body on a cellular level, but it can also help stimulate a healthy bowel movement. Plus, it supercharges your body with nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients to boost your energy.  Juices can also be an excellent source of carbohydrates, fueling your body for the most demanding of days, which is why you want to consume them early.
  11. In the beginning, try to drink freshly pressed juices on an empty stomach and give yourself about an hour to digest them before eating other food.
  12. Don’t be afraid to juice fruit. Everyone says not to use fruit, but you don’t have to worry if you don’t have blood sugar issues. If you do have blood sugar problems, add more greens to your juices so you don’t have to worry about the fruit or sugar content. If you have an issue like diabetes, then you definitely want to juice lower-sugar fruits, like cucumbers, lime, etc.
  13. Drink the juice as soon as quickly as possible to prevent oxidation, or if you have a Nama juicer, you can batch-juice for the week. A Nama is such high-quality that the juices will oxidize less quickly. You can store them in a tight jar or a glass container and save them for a number of days. Try to fill to the very top of the jar so no air can get in.
  14. You have to make bigger lifestyle changes overall. You can’t just drink juice and expect to see results if you’re still doing everything else that is keeping you sick. You have to be disciplined. For instance, if you’re still eating pizzas and hamburgers at night, but add a green juice into your day, you will still get the nutrients from the green juice, but you might not see larger overall results that you want without also eliminating the source of the problem. Think bigger! Juicing is not a diet or quick fix, it’s a lifestyle. With any lifestyle there have to be bigger changes that are implemented into your daily routine.
  15. Drink your calories! If you’re going to use juice to replace a meal, you need to drink at least 32 ounces of juice to get enough calories. I can coach you more on this in my Inner Circle coaching program, but what you need to know is that most people don’t drink enough juice to get what they need from it, and after an hour, they will either start feeling very hungry or low energy. I drink 32 ounces of fresh juice every morning as my first meal.
  16. Explore seasonal produce to consume more variety of fruits and vegetables. This will allow you to consume more nutrients—and create more recipe choices for your juices.
  17. Mix up your recipes and have fun! Not only can you make infinite combinations of juices but you can also make smoothies and sorbets (if you have a juicer like a Nama J2). You can also make nut milks which provide your body with healthy fats.
  18. Don’t throw away your juice pulp! Here are some recipes you can make with it:
  19. Not every fruit or vegetable can be juiced (don’t juice bananas or potatoes, for example). Start with the basics, or the juiciest ones you can find. I have a free e-book called “The Do's and Don’ts of Juicing” that shares the best and worst things to do and is linked below.

If you want results, be consistent. Stay committed and dedicated. Give yourself time. Please don’t give up after one week, or even after 3 months. Believe in yourself. Results will happen if you’re consistent long-term. People often want results overnight when it comes to their health, and it doesn’t work that way. They give up after one week when trying something new. If you want to see results, do this everyday! Make it a part of your lifestyle routine. It’s not a diet - it’s a daily practice. You’re creating healthy habits. And remember...The benefits of juicing are endless! When you do this every day over a period of time, you will experience more and more benefits - some of them might surprise you!

Always consult with your doctor before trying something new, and again I want to invite you to download my free e-book here and to join my Inner Circle coaching program. If you’re interested in buying a Nama juicer, check out my TOP 20 details about them below:

  1. The Nama J2 design is revolutionary. A top-opening hopper changed the game for how people juice - it’s amazing!. Wide-open hoppers require less prep work. They were the first to come out with this design. It is more powerful than most juicers. Before this juicer, everyone was spending a ton of time cutting up their produce as small as they could to fit into super small holes. With a Nama, you can load in whole fruits and veggies into here - without prep! This saves you time and effort.
  2. Batch-juicing benefits are endless- you don’t know what this means until you get to experience it! It will save you so much time and increase how much juice you drink on a regular basis! Batch-juicing is a game-changer!
  3. It saves time. Juices faster. It’s hands-free so you can multi-task. I can batch-juice ten jars or more in an hour, easily.
  4. It’s easy to clean - if you have a juicer that’s hard to clean, you just won’t use it! The Nama is super quick to clean and even comes with its own brush tool to make it even easier!
  5. It is sustainably built and has sustainable packaging. Most juicers are built to last for one year and then end up in landfills. People think they are saving money only to have it break after a few uses. This is discouraging and they let go of the juicing habit. A Nama is built to last - it has a 15-year warranty to stand the test of time.
  6. It doesn’t just make juice! It has four important functions to help you in the kitchen. It can make nut milk, smoothies, and juices. It also now can make SORBETS with a new available attachment.
  7. Compared to other juicers the motor and torque are stronger. I’ve tested a few others in comparison to this one (I won’t mention names) but the Nama is bigger, stronger, produces more juice, juices taste better, the pulp is drier - the list goes on. Other similar versions are watered-down versions of the Nama - some are even priced higher - it’s kinda crazy!
  8. It is suitable for a beginner or advanced juicer. It is easy for anyone to navigate - there’s not a big learning curve involved. It is meant to be easy to encourage you to juice! If you’re advanced you immediately know the second you turn it on that this is the best!
  9. Using a Nama keeps juices fresher for longer because they oxidize less quickly.
  10. It makes anything taste good compared to other juicers - the same three ingredients in another juicer won’t taste nearly as delicious. It works so well with single ingredients, too.
  11. Minimal pulp. Dry pulp. Less waste of produce - save money!
  12. It’s a small family owned business with great customer service - people don’t realize how small they are and it’s about user experience. 7000+ five-star reviews. USA-based. When you email them, you will actually get a friendly response.
  13. It's a super quiet, peaceful experience. Go ahead and listen to music while you make your juice - you won’t drown it out!
  14. Less arm strength & body power required. This takes that extra effort off of you.
  15. Does not stain from turmeric.
  16. It juices pineapple and cucumber much better than other juicers. The pulp is actually dry!
  17. Very kid-friendly.
  18. Made to be timeless. Beautiful aesthetic to keep on the kitchen counter.
  19. It’s easy and convenient. If you’re having fun it encourages you to go further with juicing. You’ll be more inspired to not only juice for yourself, but also your loved ones.
  20. Much more to look forward to - new products are always coming!
